Travel the Catalina Highway as it spans the 40-mile distance from the Sonoran Desert floor in Tucson to the village of Summerhaven near the top of Mount Lemmon in the Santa Catalina Mountains northeast of Tucson. The roadway rises from about 3,000’ above sea level to approximately 9,100’. It was recently designated as one of Americas National Scenic Byways and named the "Sky Island Scenic Byway". In under an hour, this scenic drive from Tucson leaves the saguaro cacti, mesquite trees, and cholla plants of the Sonoran Desert, passes through stands of oak, juniper, pinion pine, and enters pine forests at about 7,000 feet, then fir and aspen on the cooler, north-facing slopes above 8,000 feet. This trip has been humorously referred to as “A drive from Mexico to Canada in about an hour”.

Take the included sky-ride to 9100 feet through Ponderosa Pine, ancient Douglas Fir and Quaking Aspen. Where the earth meets the sky, Mt. Lemmon Ski Valley is the southernmost ski area in the nation. We will then have an included lunch in Summerhaven, before heading back down the Catalina Highway with photo stops along the way.

This tour includes transportation, Sky-ride, lunch, minimum gratuities and bottled water. This trip requires a minimum of 30 people to be operated in a motorcoach; otherwise, vans will be used for this trip.

Tour departs from the Sonoran Plaza trip parking lot at 7:00 am, return around 6:30 pm.

Tour departs from the Glendale Adult Center at 7:45 am, return around 5:30 pm.

Full refund if canceled more than 30 days before tour.  50% refund if canceled 30-15 days before tour.  No refunds for no-shows or cancellations with less than 15 days notice.  If Synergy Tour Resources cancels the tour for any reason all paid participants will receive a full refund.
